1 lakh appointment letters in 6 months: Yogi's big announcement ahead of UP polls

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday announced that his government will give appointment letters to one lakh young people over the next six months, saying the latest appointments would take the number of youths given government jobs under his government to around 10.5 lakh.

Highlighting the transparency of the recruitment process during his tenure, Adityanath said recruitment was carried out without political interference. Taking a jibe at previous governments in Uttar Pradesh, he said recruitment boards and commissions were delivering results under his government as they were not subjected to partisan politics.

“When recruitment boards and commissions are not victims of any politics by the government, the results are visible in this manner,” Yogi said.

He said examinations conducted in a transparent manner and with integrity ensured that young people received appointments.

The Chief Minister also launched a sharp attack on the recruitment system before 2017, alleging that recruitment boards and commissions had been politicised and that the process had been marred by irregularities.

“Before 2017, a person who was himself not qualified for the post was made the chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission. When irregularities in the entire matter came to light, the court had to make strict remarks,” he said.

“The court said that such a person should be sent to jail and should rot in jail for life,” he added.

Adityanath also said the previous government’s system had created an identity crisis for young people in Uttar Pradesh.

He alleged that the then government had placed its “brothers and relatives” in recruitment boards and commissions, thereby damaging the credibility of the entire recruitment process.

“Not a single recruitment was conducted honestly at the time, and young people were forced to migrate in search of opportunities,” the Chief Minister added.

He also claimed that people were hesitant to offer employment opportunities to young people because of Uttar Pradesh’s image at the time.UP WAS NOT SICK, GOVERNMENTS’ MENTALITY WAS, SAYS ADITYANATH

CM Adityanath also targeted previous governments over the law-and-order situation in Uttar Pradesh before 2017.

He said riots used to take place in the state every other day and curfews would continue for months. He added that people did not feel safe during that period.

The Chief Minister also blamed the previous governments’ functioning for turning Uttar Pradesh into a “BIMARU” state.

“Uttar Pradesh was not sick, but the mentality and functioning of the governments were sick,” he said.

Adityanath said his government had changed the system by ensuring transparent recruitment and appointments across departments.
