TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Metro Police will deploy 10,121 joint personnel to secure the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup final between Indonesia and Thailand at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Central Jakarta, on Monday, October 5, 2026.
The Head of the Operations Bureau (Karoops) of the Jakarta Metro Police, Brigadier General La Ode Aries El Fathar, led the Tactical Floor Game (TFG) at Balai Sarbini, South Jakarta, on Monday. This activity aimed to refine personnel placement, supporter mobility, traffic diversion, and contingency scenarios.
"This TFG is to ensure that personnel placement and implementation patterns on the field are understood by all stakeholders. The results must also be communicated to the controlling officers and relevant personnel to ensure a focused and coordinated implementation," said La Ode.
The series of matches at SUGBK will begin with the third-place match between Malaysia and Vietnam at 4:00 p.m. local time, followed by the final between Indonesia and Thailand at 8:00 p.m.
Joint officers are stationed at several vital points, including travel routes, entrances, the grandstand area, the GBK stadium area, fan gathering areas, and the roads around Senayan.
The Head of Public Relations for the Jakarta Metro Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, appealed to supporters of both teams and the wider public to maintain order during the series of events.
"Support the team in an orderly and sporting manner. Follow the inspections and directions of officers, and avoid carrying prohibited items," said Budi.
He added that traffic flow around the GBK stadium area will be regulated situationally and adjusted to conditions on the field. Passengers are advised to anticipate potential congestion by adjusting their travel times and routes.
Indonesian national team head coach John Herdman emphasized that his squad will give their all when facing Thailand in the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup final at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (GBK) tonight.
"We're excited. The team is going to step into the GBK [stadium] tomorrow and give everything for the country," said Herdman at a pre-match press conference on Sunday.
Herdman said the match will be his squad's golden opportunity to win a trophy.
The FIFA ASEAN Cup final takes place approximately two months after Herdman failed to lead his team to the semifinals of the 2026 AFF Cup.
Regarding the final, the English coach is also confident his team will emerge victorious amid a full house stadium, after 67,000 tickets were sold out.
