The incident occurred at around 7:59 a.m. near İnci Üzmez Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. The Manisa Governor's Office said police and medical teams were dispatched to the area following reports of gunfire. The injured students were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The suspected shooter was quickly apprehended and taken into custody, according to authorities. Justice Minister Akın Gürlek said the Turgutlu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had launched a comprehensive investigation and assigned two prosecutors to the case.

Gürlek said the shooting took place outside the school building, on a street where students were heading to school. He also said authorities would investigate allegations of peer bullying as part of the inquiry.

The Education Ministry said classes at the school were suspended for the day and that three ministry inspectors had been sent to Manisa to examine the incident. Psychosocial support teams were also deployed to assist affected students, teachers and parents.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and how the weapon used in the attack was obtained.
