14-Year-Old Teen in South Tangerang Kidnapped After Meeting on Social Media, Held for 6 Days and Threatened with Death

TANGERANG SELATAN, KOMPAS.com — A 14-year-old girl in the Ciater area of Serpong, South Tangerang, became a victim of kidnapping and sexual violence after meeting a 28-year-old man through social media.

The victim was held captive for nearly a week in Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta, before the perpetrator was caught by locals while attempting to return her.

Arfian Bule (38), head of RT 04 RW 07 in Ciater sub-district, recounted that the incident began when the victim and the perpetrator connected on social media and arranged to meet.

After meeting, the perpetrator immediately abducted the victim without her parents' knowledge.

"She was taken away for around five or six days before being returned. When he tried to drop her off, he was caught," Arfian told reporters at the scene on Wednesday (23/9/2026).

The perpetrator took the victim to his home in Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta.

During her captivity, the victim suffered repeated sexual assaults and threats from the perpetrator.

"What’s heartbreaking is that even while the victim was menstruating, the perpetrator forced her. She was also threatened with death if she screamed or refused," Arfian said.

According to the victim’s confession to her family, the sexual assaults occurred five to six times during the captivity period.

Panicking, the perpetrator eventually decided to return the victim.

However, instead of taking her home, he brought her to another location in the Ciater Permai area.

The victim’s family and local residents, who had been on alert since the beginning and conducted searches, surveilled and surrounded the area.

"Before he tried to drop her off, the neighbors already noticed because the area was surrounded. When he dropped her, the perpetrator was immediately caught by residents," Arfian explained.

This brutal incident has left deep psychological scars on the victim. Arfian revealed that the teenager’s mental and emotional state is currently very fragile and requires special support.

"At the moment, the victim is mentally and psychologically traumatized. She does not want to meet anyone except her family, especially her parents," he said.

The victim’s panic was clearly visible during the perpetrator’s arrest amid the gathered crowd.

She felt pressured and embarrassed by the large number of people watching.

"When she was finally returned and surrounded by residents, she screamed, 'Don’t take pictures of me, don’t look at me!' Probably out of shame or fear," Arfian added.

The legal handling of this case has been transferred to the police in East Jakarta, where the crime scene in Pasar Rebo is located.

The victim’s family has undergone the investigative statement process (BAP), while psychological support for the victim is still being arranged.
