Police in Gatineau, Que., say two people were killed and one was seriously injured in an overnight crash that partially closed boulevard des Allumettières east of chemin Vanier.

Police said the single-vehicle crash happened just before 2 a.m. when an eastbound car went off the road in the Aylmer sector.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene and another at hospital, police said. Three other occupants were taken to hospital, one in serious but stable condition.

All five people in the car were women under age 25, police said.

On Friday morning, the heavily damaged, light-coloured car remained in the closed section near boulevard des Grives.

Eastbound lanes of des Allumettières were closed between chemin Vanier and des Grives but have since reopened.
