2 killed in shooting at a Los Angeles event hall - USA Today
Two people are dead after shots rang out at a Los Angeles banquet hall late the night of Oct. 2, police said.
Police first responded to a call at about 11 p.m. local time that there was a loud party with a large crowd inside a banquet hall in Northridge, a neighborhood near the campus of California State University, Northridge, according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Norma Eisenman.
Eisenman told USA TODAY that when they arrived, officers heard gunshots and requested assistance from more police. While clearing the venue, they found two people suffering from gunshot wounds who were pronounced dead on the scene.
The victims were described as one man and one woman between the ages of 18 and 25. Eisenman said police did not locate a reported third victim and were not aware of anyone injured.
Police are searching for a Hispanic male suspect, Eisenman said.
CBS Los Angeles reported that the venue where the shooting took place was Artist Lounge. Its website says it rents out space for various events including parties and classes.
The Northridge neighborhood is located in the San Fernando Valley area of the city of Los Angeles.
