Two skydivers are dead after suffering traumatic injuries following a reported “air emergency” in Southern California on Friday, Nov. 6.

Riverside County firefighters and deputies from the sheriff’s department responded to the incident involving two skydivers with "major injuries" in Lake Elsinore earlier Friday. They were on the ground receiving medical aid when deputies arrived, according to Deirdre Vickers, a spokesperson for the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.

Both individuals were transported to a local hospital in critical condition, where they later died, according to Vickers.

It’s not immediately clear how the skydivers were injured.

The investigation is ongoing, and no further details are available at this time, Vickers said.
