Hammed Shittu in Ilorin Kwara State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in the next year general elections, Engr. Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu, has said that he has a record of service to human capital development that stretches back many years before venturing  into politics and that cannot be erased for the political calculations of the state.Kawu in a statement issued in Ilorin yesterday on the sidelines of the insinuations by a group, Kwara Rebuilders that his covenant with Kwarans was allegedly linked to the Saraki dynasty describing it as a “baseless and senseless thought”.

It would be recalled that a socio-political group, Kwara Rebuilders, had accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kwara State, Engr. Kale Kawu, of prioritising the restoration of the  political dynasty of former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, over the interests of the people. The group described Kawu’s alleged political commitment to Saraki as “ungodly and dead on arrival,” insisting that his ambition to govern the state was driven by a desire to revive the dynasty rather than serve the electorate.

But Kawu in a swift reaction in Ilorin yesterday said, “The Media Office of Engr. Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu Agaka, PDP governorship candidate in Kwara State has been drawn to a statement credited to a group called Kwara Rebuilders, in which the group again resorted to name calling and wild allegations instead of addressing the substance of the matter before the public.

“We have read the statement carefully and we have come to one conclusion. Kwara Rebuilders and its sponsors are stylishly avoiding the concept of the argument.“They have refused to engage the real issue and have chosen instead to throw around tantrums and baseless insinuations”.The statement said, “Let us therefore restate the concept clearly so that nobody will claim to be confused again.

“The concept is simple. Engr. Kale Kawu is not copying anybody’s manifesto. He has no reason to copy anyone.“The theme of his manifesto is ‘My Covenant With Kwarans’, a document built from his own convictions, his own years of service and his own understanding of what Kwara needs at this moment.“A man who has spent decades investing in the lives of ordinary people does not need to borrow ideas from anyone. His track record is his manifesto.“It is important to remind Kwara Rebuilders and their sponsors that Engr. Kale Kawu has a record of service to human capital development stretching back many years before he ventured into politics.

“He has invested in the education of young people, supported families, empowered artisans and stood with the less privileged long before anyone gave him a political label.“That record is written in the lives of the people he has touched and it cannot be erased by anybody, not even the governor himself.

“Linking his covenant with Kwarans to the Saraki dynasty is a baseless and senseless thought. Engr. Kale Kawu has been doing his things long before this moment and he has done them without involving Saraki or any other person.“To suggest that his entire life’s work is a cover for another man’s ambition is not just insulting to him but an insult to the intelligence of Kwarans who have watched him for years.

“We respect Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki as a leader of note. There is no doubt about that. He is a beacon whose contributions to Kwara and Nigeria are matters of public record.“But to now claim that Engr. Kale Kawu will hand over the treasury and purse of Kwara to him is a baseless and thoughtless propaganda that has no root in truth.“It is the kind of imagination that belongs to people who have run out of ideas and are now feeding fat on rumours.

“We also find it necessary to remind Kwara Rebuilders that calling a respected elder and a gubernatorial candidate a sycophant is rude and abusive behaviour.“Decent public conversation does not require insults, and those who cannot engage issues without resorting to disparaging words have already shown the weakness of their case. We expect better from anyone who claims to be rebuilding anything in Kwara.

“We understand where this desperation is coming from. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and his team used propaganda and lies to deceive Kwarans during the 2019 general election.“They promised a new Kwara and they have delivered nothing but hardship, broken promises and a government that has mastered the art of blaming others for its own incompetence.“Now they want to use the same old logic to hide their failure because they know the people have seen through them.

“Kwara Rebuilders should tell Kwarans what AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has done with the mandate given to him. They should explain why insecurity has worsened under his watch and why taxpayers’ money is being mismanaged while ordinary Kwarans continue to suffer.“Instead of answering these questions, they are busy attacking a man whose covenant with the people is clear and whose record of service is unbroken.

“We will not be distracted. Engr Kale Kawu remains focused on his covenant with Kwarans. He will continue to meet the people, listen to their pains and present a clear plan to rebuild Kwara.“Those who have nothing to offer except lies and diversion are free to continue their campaign of calumny. Kwarans know the truth and they will speak with one voice at the polls.
