2027: Music star D’Banj surprises Osun politician with campaign vehicles - Punch Newspapers
Popular Nigerian singer Dapo Oyebanjo, better known as D’Banj, has donated three brand-new Sienna space buses to lawyer and politician Pelumi Olajengbesi in support of his ambition to represent the Oriade-Obokun Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in 2027. The singer presented the vehicles to Olajengbesi in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Thursday. Olajengbesi disclosed the donation in a Facebook post on Friday, describing it as a surprise and a significant show of support from the music star. According to him, D’Banj had contacted him about two weeks earlier to obtain the details of the person responsible for his campaign branding. Olajengbesi said he believed the request was for D’Banj’s CREAM project, which is focused on supporting young creatives, and subsequently shared the contact.See more Punch stories on Google.Add Punch on Google He said he was surprised when he later received three fully branded Sienna buses from the singer. “It’s my token of support,” Olajengbesi quoted D’Banj as saying when he contacted him after receiving the vehicles. Expressing appreciation, Olajengbesi said the gesture was a demonstration of support for his political journey. The development comes amid growing public support for Olajengbesi’s bid for the Oriade-Obokun federal constituency seat. Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, had also previously endorsed Olajengbesi’s ambition. Olajengbesi served as the campaign spokesman for the re-election bid of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke in the August 15, 2026 governorship election. He is also the convener of the Imole Grassroots Mobilisation Network in Osun State. Olajengbesi, who turned 40 in August, previously contested the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency seat in 2019.
