2027: Tinubu, Abba supporters mobilise students in 25 Kano institutions - Punch Newspapers
The Jagaban-Abba Students’ Mandate 2027 has launched a campus mobilisation drive across 25 tertiary institutions in Kano State, charging its newly inaugurated ambassadors to engage students and build support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. Speaking at the launch on Thursday in Abuja, the convener of the group, Nafiu Yunusa, urged the ambassadors to take the campaign to lecture halls, hostels and other student communities across Kano. He said that the Campus Ambassadors initiative was designed to establish a structured student network across the institutions ahead of the 2027 general elections. Yunusa tasked the ambassadors with grassroots mobilisation, voter education and communicating the group’s assessment of the policies and programmes of the Tinubu and Abba administrations to students. “We are here today to launch a movement driven by results, not rhetoric. The Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu and the visionary leadership of Governor Abba have transformed the educational landscape of our state and nation.See more Punch stories on Google.Add Punch on Google “Our campus ambassadors will take this message of progress to every lecture hall, hostel, and campus in Kano,” Yunusa said Yunusa said the group’s mobilisation would be driven largely by what it described as achievements in the education sector under the Federal Government and Kano State Government. Among the Federal Government initiatives cited by the group was the Nigerian Education Loan Fund student loan scheme. NELFUND said in August 2026 that it had disbursed more than N322bn through over 1.6 million student loan applications. It specifically mentioned the conversion of the Federal College of Education, Kano, to Yusuf Maitama Sule Federal University of Education, Kano, and the proposed upgrade of Federal Polytechnic Kabo to a university of technology. On the state government, Yunusa cited what he described as interventions in education, including increased budgetary allocations, free education at the primary and secondary levels, fee reductions in state-owned tertiary institutions and recruitment of teachers. He said the administration had also renovated classrooms, supplied school furniture, reopened girls’ boarding schools and supported postgraduate scholarships. Yunusa urged the newly inaugurated ambassadors to use their positions to mobilise students and ensure that their concerns and interests remained part of the political conversation ahead of the 2027 elections. “The future of our education depends on continuity. We cannot afford to return to a past where education was neglected. “The Jagaban-Abba Students’ Mandate 2027 is committed to ensuring that the voices of Kano students are heard and their interests protected,” he said.
