Students in tertiary institutions in Zamfara State have commenced mobilisation for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Dauda Lawal in the 2027 elections The students cited education interventions by the Federal and state governments as part of the reasons for their support. The mobilisation is being coordinated by the JAGABA/DAUDA Students’ Mandate 2027, Zamfara State chapter, through its newly launched Campus Ambassadors Initiative. According to a statement on Thursday issued by the convener, Bilyaminu Badarawa, the group would use the initiative to engage students on government programmes and interventions in the education sector. Speaking at the launch on Wednesday, Badarawa said, “We are here to launch a movement that will engage students with the developments taking place in the education sector. Our Campus Ambassadors will take this message to campuses across Zamfara, engage their fellow students and ensure that young people are properly informed about the programmes and interventions affecting their education and future.”See more Punch stories on Google.Add Punch on Google The group cited the Nigerian Education Loan Fund student-loan scheme as one of the major initiatives of the Tinubu administration, noting that NELFUND had reported more than 1.6 million student-loan applications processed, with over N322bn disbursed as of August 2026. It also highlighted federal investments in technical and vocational education, research, infrastructure and institutional support. At the state level, the group cited the Lawal administration’s declaration of a state of emergency in education, renovation and reconstruction of schools, recruitment of teachers, payment of outstanding WAEC and NECO debts, provision of teaching and learning materials and support for students. He said the group’s mobilisation would focus on presenting what it described as “tangible and verifiable achievements” in education to students across the state. “We cannot afford to return to a past where examination results were withheld, teachers were unpaid and classrooms collapsed. The JAGABA/DAUDA STUDENTS’ MANDATE 2027 is committed to ensuring that the voices of Zamfara students are heard and their interests protected,” he said. The convener added that students had a role to play in determining the direction of the state and country through informed participation in the electoral process. “The future of Zamfara depends significantly on the quality of education available to its young people. Our responsibility as students and young citizens is to understand what is being done, engage constructively and make our voices heard,” Badarawa said. The newly inaugurated Campus Ambassadors were charged with grassroots mobilisation, voter education and engagement with students across tertiary institutions in Zamfara. The group subsequently called on students and young people across the state to support Tinubu and Lawal in the 2027 elections.
