25-year-old gym trainer killed after a fight at client's flat during overnight stay
A 25-year-old gym trainer was allegedly assaulted and killed after an altercation inside a client's apartment in Bengaluru, police said on Monday. Four people have been taken into custody in connection with the murder.
The deceased was identified as Nandan, a resident of Jakkuru Layout in Yelahanka, who worked as a trainer at a gym in Sahakara Nagar. The incident took place on Sunday morning at Kempapura.
Police said the accused are Vishwanatha, Sharath, Nishanth and Anush. Vishwanatha, Sharath and Nishanth were Nandan's colleagues at the gym, while Anush was a client whom all of them trained. Police said Vishwanatha was Anush's personal trainer.
According to police, after attending an anniversary event at the gym on Saturday evening, Nandan and his colleagues Vishwanatha, Sharath and Nishanth went to Anush's flat in Kempapura to spend the night there. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Mithun Kumar said a murder case has been registered at Amruthahalli police station in connection with the incident. He said the victim, along with his three colleagues, had gone to Anush's house to spend the night, and that the incident took place between 7 am and 7.30 am on Sunday.
Citing the preliminary investigation, police said an argument broke out among the men over personal issues and escalated into a violent clash, during which Nandan was fatally assaulted. Vishwanatha and Sharath also suffered minor injuries in the scuffle, police said. Nandan was later shifted to a private hospital in Hebbal, where he died of his injuries.
"Prima facie, it appears that the murder was committed for personal reasons," the DCP said, adding that the accused have been taken into custody for detailed interrogation. Police said CCTV footage from the spot and other technical data are being analysed to establish the exact motive and sequence of events. The case centres on an alleged assault inside the flat after a personal dispute, in which Nandan was killed and four people were detained. - EndsWith PTI inputs
