A 26-year-old man was found dead while sitting on a scooter in an empty field near the flyover in Meerut on Wednesday afternoon. The police reached the spot after receiving information from passersby and found that the man had died. They sent the body for a post-mortem examination.
The victim, Rajat Yadav, 26, worked at an inter college in a private capacity and had reportedly been addicted to drugs for some time.
According to his family, Rajat had fallen ill a few days ago after consuming an excessive amount of drugs.
The police's preliminary investigation suggests that Rajat left home on Wednesday and reached the empty field. Police suspect that his condition deteriorated while he was taking drugs through an injection, leading to his death.
However, the exact cause of death will be established only after the post-mortem report.
Police questioned people present around the scene and are also examining CCTV footage from cameras installed in the area. Police said the case appeared to be linked to a drug overdose at the preliminary stage. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. - Ends
