3 Monkeys first poster: Arjun Rampal, Vishal Jethwa in Abbas-Mustan's thriller

Actors Arjun Rampal, Vishal Jethwa, Mustafa Burmawala and Tenzin Dalha will star in Abbas–Mustan’s upcoming thriller 3 Monkeys, which was announced on Gandhi Jayanti with its first motion poster. The campaign reworks the familiar Three Wise Monkeys idea for a contemporary setting and introduces the film’s central characters while keeping the larger plot under wraps.

The film replaces the traditional line, “Bura Mat Dekho, Bura Mat Suno, Bura Mat Bolo (See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil)”, with “Sab Dekho. Apni Suno. Bekhauf Bolo (Observe everything. Listen. Speak fearlessly).”

At the centre of the story are three masked characters Amar, Akbar and Anthony played by Vishal Jethwa, Mustafa Burmawala and Tenzin Dalha. Rampal plays Sanjay, whose link to the trio has not been disclosed.Abbas–Mustan revisit Three Wise Monkeys

The motion poster opens with the traditional Three Wise Monkeys before shifting to the film’s central trio. Amar, Akbar and Anthony are shown masked and armed, though the announcement does not reveal whether they are part of a robbery, a heist or something else. Rampal’s character, Sanjay, is introduced separately in the motion poster. He is also shown armed and appears to share a connection with the three masked men, but the nature of that relationship has not been revealed.

The makers have kept plot details under wraps, with the mystery around Amar, Akbar, Anthony and Sanjay expected to unfold through the film’s upcoming teaser and trailer.

3 Monkeys is directed by Abbas–Mustan and produced by Allarakha Vohra, Faruk Vohra and Sayeed Vohra. Presented by AJ Film Entertainment World, the film is set for a worldwide release on December 4. The film is slated to clash with Shraddha Kapoor's Eetha and Akshay Kumar-Vidya Balan's untitled comedy film.

Arjun Rampal was recently seen in Dhurandhar: The Revenge, while Vishal Jethwa was last seen in Homebound. Mustafa Burmawala, who made his acting debut with Machine, has kept a relatively low profile on screen in recent years.
