The Keralam government informed the Kerala High Court recently that it had disbursed ₹4.35 crore for the construction of a parking lot near the Mangalavanam Bird Sanctuary in Kochi.
The Division Bench of Chief Justice Soumen Sen and Justice V.M. Syam Kumar observed that the Kochi Corporation and the Southern Railway should finalise the lease agreement for the land, which is owned by the Indian Railways.
The Corporation was directed to issue a requisition to the Registrar General to release the amount required and take immediate steps for the execution of the lease agreement within three weeks from September 28.
The parking lot is planned to accommodate 250 cars, and the construction is expected to be completed by November 1.
