4 CISF personnel killed after colleague opens fire at camp in J&K's Kathua

Four Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel were killed after one of their colleagues opened fire at them at a camp at the Sewa 2 hydel power project in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district.

The incident took place among CISF personnel deployed at the hydel power project. The four personnel initially sustained serious injuries in the firing and later succumbed to their injuries.

The incident is being treated as a case of fratricide, or firing among personnel of the same force.

The reason for the fight among the CISF personnel is not known yet. The circumstances leading to the firing are being investigated.

A team from the Kathua district police has reached the spot and has been entrusted with the investigation into the incident.

The CISF is also conducting an internal probe. The CISF headquarters has ordered a Court of Inquiry into the incident to establish the sequence of events and determine the circumstances that led to the firing. - Ends
