49ers best performers from Week 1 win over Rams

After a week down under, the San Francisco 49ers took on the Los Angeles Rams at Melbourne Cricket Ground on Thursday night, and Kyle Shanahan's team walked away with a 27-7 victory.

San Francisco spent a week in Australia getting adjusted to the time difference while Los Angeles flew in the day before the game. The difference in plans might've explained the difference in energy that the two teams seemed to play with.

With the 49ers building an early one-game lead atop the NFC West, let's take a look at some of their best performers from this win.

Outside of the one interception in the second quarter, Purdy was phenomenal in this one and definitely outdueled the reigning NFL MVP, Matthew Stafford. The 26-year-old completed 74% of his passes for 205 yards and three touchdowns. Obviously, there's a ton of football left, but this might put Purdy in early MVP conversations himself.

Evans was San Francisco's big addition on the offensive side of the ball this offseason, and he was a big part of the team's game plan against Los Angeles. He was targeted seven times and hauled in six passes for 49 yards and a touchdown.

It was unclear who the 49ers were going to start at left guard in this game, and they ended up going with 2025 seventh-round pick Connor Colby, who struggled during his rookie campaign. Still, San Francisco kept Purdy clean and helped San Francisco's running backs rush for 133 yards on 5.5 yards per attempt.

Odighizuwa was San Francisco's biggest offseason addition on the defensive side, as they sent a third-round pick for him. While he had just two tackles, he also finished with four quarterback hits. The 49ers need to put pressure on the quarterback, and Odighizuwa was doing just that.

Warner missed a lot of time last season with a broken ankle, and he returned for this game looking like he really missed playing football. The four-time All-Pro was all over the field and recorded a game-high 11 tackles, a pass defensed and a forced fumble. It was evident just how much the 49ers defense missed him in just one game back.
