(Photo collage courtesy of Ilocos Sur PPO) SAN ILDEFONSO, Ilocos Sur β€” Police destroyed 5,200 fully grown marijuana plants worth an estimated P1.04 million at three plantation sites that were discovered in the hinterlands of Ilocos Sur’s Sugpon town on Friday.

The plantations, spanning a combined 550 square meters, were found in Sitio Nagawa, Barangay Caoayan, during an operation led by the 1st Ilocos Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company, the Ilocos Sur Police Provincial Office (ISPPO) said.

The operation was part of the province’s continuing campaign to eradicate marijuana cultivation at its source, according to the ISPPO.

Police Provincial Director Col. Agosto Asuncion said the operation targeted areas identified as β€œconducive to marijuana cultivation.”
