Philippine Coast Guard spokesperson Commodore Noemie Cayabyab told a briefing Thursday afternoon that 43 people had survived the inferno on the MV June Aster after the vessel was engulfed in flames about 1.2 nautical miles northeast of Barangay Marcilla, Coron, Palawan.
"The number of possible missing is 86. We based it from the manifest submitted by the captain of the vessel," Cayabyab said, adding that search and rescue efforts were still underway.
