5 players Broncos could target before NFL trade deadline - Broncos Wire
The NFL's trade deadline is exactly one week away, and 9News has reported that the Denver Broncos are expected to pursue options at all skill positions: running back, tight end and wide receiver.
However, Pat Bryant is eligible to return from injured reserve this week, and coach Sean Payton has talked about not having enough targets to go around for players like Marvin Mims. So it doesn't seem that receiver would be high on the team's wish list.
Running back is a different story, and tight end might be as well. So we've put together a quick list of five notable players the Broncos could target ahead of the NFL's trade deadline.
1. RB Breece Hall: He's younger than Jonathan Taylor, he's cheaper than Taylor, and he's a skilled receiver out of the backfield (something Denver will miss while RJ Harvey is sidelined). The Jets have indicated they don't want to trade Hall, but they're 2-6 and Braelon Allen is playing well, so Denver should check in.
2. RB Jonathan Taylor: He is the name to watch leading up to the trade deadline. But would the Broncos be willing to trade a second-round pick (and more) to the Colts and then pay him $16 million in 2027 and nearly $18 million in 2028 before Taylor becomes a 30-year-old free agent in 2029? It would be an extremely aggressive move with plenty of risk involved.
3. RB Tony Pollard: He would be a one-year rental, but Pollard might be available given the Titans' 1-7 record. Pollard has totaled 665 yards from scrimmage and scored six touchdowns through eight games.
4. TE Trey McBride: There's no reason to believe the Cardinals have any interest in trading their superstar tight end, but we do know that Payton loves McBride. A more realistic tight end option might be Dallas Goedert of the 2-6 Eagles.
5. RB Kenny Gainwell: He wouldn't be a flashy addition like Taylor or Hall, but Gainwell totaled 73 receptions in Pittsburgh last fall. Denver could use that kind of receiving threat out of the backfield, especially while Harvey is sidelined.
