The beautification works of at least 105 ponds, which are being developed at an estimated cost of ₹50 crore, will be completed by the end of September, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan announced on Monday, as the government has undertaken development of at least 11 ponds at an estimated cost of ₹6.11 crore in his home constituency, Pithapuram.

The ponds are being developed to increase green cover on the bunds.

Mr. Pawan Kalyan on Monday inaugurated the Mysamma pond, developed at a cost of ₹72 lakh, in the Pithapuram Assembly constituency. The surrounding area of the pond is equipped with various facilities, including a gym and a walking track.

"The ponds in the villages are not merely a source of irrigation or drinking water. These can be used for entertainment for local apartment venues for green cover,” the Deputy CM said while addressing the gathering at the Mysamma pond.

Later in the day, Mr. Pawan Kalyan, accompanied by Principal Chief Conservator of Forests P. V. Chalapathi Rao, inaugurated Nagaravanam, a park developed at a cost of ₹1.8 crore featuring a butterfly park, open-air theatre, open gym and walking track. Spanning over 5.6 acres, the abandoned dumping yard was developed as Nagaravanam.

The Kakinada District forest officials have been directed to plant various species of trees in the Nagaravanam with an aim to attract tourists who visit the temples in Pithapuram.
