6,733 pending cases in Mysuru settled through Lok Adalat

A total of 6,733 pending court cases were settled as part of the National Lok Adalat held across courts in Mysuru district on Saturday.

Out of the 1,34,313 lakh cases including 67,831 civil and 66,482 criminal cases pending before the courts in Mysuru City and taluks of the district, as many as 47,141 cases were identified as cases that were eligible for settlement or compromise during the National Lok Adalat.

Out of these, 12,947 cases were taken up for mediation or settlement and 6,733 pending court cases were settled through the National Lok Adalat, said a statement from Mysuru district Legal Services Authority.

Also, 34 couples resolved their disputes pending before the courts in Mysuru district and reunited during the National Lok Adalat.

“Overall, 6,733 cases pending before the courts were disposed of through the National Lok Adalat. A total amount of ₹59,25,07,735 was settled through compromise in these cases,” the statement said.

A statement issued by the Mysuru District Legal Services Authority said the Principal District and Sessions Judge Usharani and Member Secretary Nagaraj Siddappa Ankasadoddi expressed their gratitude to all the judges, office-bearers of the Bar Association, advocates, litigants and others for making the National Lok Adalat a success.
