6 students arrested with MDMA in Dehradun, police uncover Delhi gang link
Dehradun Police arrested six students in two separate operations and recovered a total of 44.61 grams of MDMA, a high-profile synthetic drug, officials said. Police claimed the accused were working as peddlers for a Delhi-based gang and supplying the drug to college students in the city.TWO OPERATIONS, 44.61 GRAMS OF MDMA RECOVERED
The Rajpur police and Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) conducted the operations at different locations in Dehradun on the night of September 22 as part of an ongoing drive against drug trafficking.
In the first operation, police intercepted a car near Shahanshahi Resort on Old Mussoorie Road and arrested four people. Police recovered 27.12 grams of MDMA from their possession.
In a second operation near the Sahastradhara helipad, police arrested two more people and recovered 17.49 grams of MDMA.
Police said the total 44.61 grams of MDMA recovered in the two operations is worth lakhs of rupees.STUDENTS LINKED TO DELHI-BASED 'SIDHU' GANG
According to police, the six arrested accused are not professional criminals but students pursuing technical courses at different educational institutions in Dehradun and other states.
During questioning, the accused allegedly told police that they worked for Siddharth alias Sidhu, a resident of Delhi. Police said Sidhu or his agents supplied MDMA to them in Dehradun.
The accused also allegedly told investigators that they would sometimes travel to Delhi, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh themselves to procure drugs before bringing them back to Dehradun.
Police claimed the accused specifically targeted college students and sold MDMA to them at high prices.POLICE PROBE DRUG SUPPLY NETWORK
According to police, the accused said they became involved in the illegal trade to fund their expensive lifestyle.
The police are now investigating other people allegedly linked to the Delhi-based Sidhu gang and trying to establish the wider MDMA supply network operating in Dehradun.
The arrested accused have been identified as Vedant Chauhan, Rachit Sharma, Shrikant, Chirag Rastogi, Abhishek Thapa and Vaibhav Mamgain. They are aged between 21 and 24 years and, according to police, are pursuing higher education.
Separate cases have been registered at Rajpur police station under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
