60 business leaders to chart growth strategies at NIPSS, DOMI retreat - Vanguard News
The National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, in partnership with DOMI Leadership Consult Limited, Lagos, will hold its 2026 Annual Strategic Leadership Retreat in Lagos and Abuja to help business leaders strengthen institutional performance, align corporate strategies and develop sustainable growth plans for 2027.
Founder of DOMI Leadership Consult Limited, Dr David Oladipo, who disclosed details of the programme, said the retreat would bring together between 50 and 60 chief executives, managing directors and executive directors from various sectors of the economy for two days of strategic discussions, peer learning and action planning in each city.
The retreat, themed “Navigating Growth: Alignment, Innovation, and Scale,” will hold in Lagos on Friday, November 27, and Saturday, November 28, 2026, before moving to Abuja on Friday, December 4, and Saturday, December 5, 2026.
According to the organisers, the programme is designed to enable senior executives to review their organisations’ performance, identify implementation challenges and establish clear priorities for sustainable institutional growth.
The Lagos edition will take place at Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, Yesufu Abiodun Oniru Way, Victoria Island, while the Abuja edition will hold at Reiz Continental Hotel, 9 Wole Olanipekun Street, Cadastral Zone. Sessions in both cities will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
Oladipo said the retreat was conceived as a platform for business leaders to move beyond routine management discussions and critically examine the leadership structures, strategies and operational systems required to achieve long-term institutional goals.
The programme will also provide an opportunity for executives to assess prevailing economic challenges, examine emerging regulatory frameworks and identify practical ways to improve organisational performance ahead of the 2027 business year.
Unlike conventional conferences, the retreat will operate as a closed-door programme under the Chatham House Rule, allowing participants to use information shared during discussions without disclosing the identities or organisational affiliations of speakers and other participants.
The rule will apply to plenary sessions, breakout discussions and social engagements, creating an environment for executives to discuss sensitive leadership and business challenges in confidence.
Participants will be drawn from banking and finance, micro, small and medium enterprise credit, development finance, manufacturing, energy, technology and professional services.
The organisers said the cross-sector participation was intended to encourage diverse perspectives and constructive peer engagement, particularly on challenges executives might find difficult to discuss openly within their respective industries.
The programme will focus on three key areas: alignment, innovation and scale.
While alignment will examine how organisations can ensure that corporate vision and strategic priorities are understood and implemented across management levels, from the boardroom to frontline operations, innovation will focus on developing new sources of growth rather than concentrating solely on protecting existing market positions.
The scale component will address the capital, talent, systems and structures required to expand business operations without undermining institutional stability.
A major component of the retreat will be an institutional health assessment, through which participants will evaluate their organisations across five dimensions, identifying their three strongest areas and three most significant vulnerabilities.
This will be followed by a confidential peer case clinic, where participants will present specific, unresolved strategic challenges for structured feedback from colleagues across different sectors.
The sessions are expected to help executives test their assumptions, identify implementation weaknesses and consider practical adjustments to their strategies.
Participants will also take part in a fiscal-year performance review and workshops on organisational growth and strategic execution.
Another major component is the Action Planning Lab, where each executive will develop a strategic action plan outlining three to five priorities, clearly assigned responsibilities and measurable 90-day milestones. The plans will also identify their desired institutional position by the fourth quarter of 2027.
The organisers said the objective was to ensure that every participant leaves with a practical plan that can be presented to their organisation’s board or executive committee for implementation.
To sustain the outcomes beyond the two-day sessions, DOMI Leadership Consult will facilitate accountability check-ins at 30, 60 and 90 days after the retreat.
Participants will also receive an anonymised retreat communiqué documenting shared lessons without disclosing confidential identities or organisational affiliations.
The programme will further establish an alumni circle to enable participants to maintain professional relationships and continue peer advisory discussions after the event.
The faculty will comprise facilitators from NIPSS and DOMI Leadership Consult, alongside other leadership and management experts.
They include Professor Ayo Omotayo, Director-General of NIPSS; Dr Alexander Faranpojo of Eternal Virtues; Dr Linus Okorie of GOTNI Leadership Centre; Dr Niyi Adesanya of FifthGear Plus Consulting; Dr David Oladipo of DOMI Leadership Consult; Professor Sola Adeyanju, Director of NIPSS-OSKASOGS; and Chief Dr Ezekiel Gomos, Chief Executive Officer of Jos Business School.
Participation fees vary according to location, accommodation status and group size.
For the Lagos edition, non-residential packages range from ₦1.5 million for an individual to ₦10 million for a group of 10, while residential packages range from ₦2.3 million to ₦17.5 million.
In Abuja, non-residential packages also range from ₦1.5 million to ₦10 million, while residential packages range from ₦1.86 million to ₦13.6 million.
The organisers have announced a 10 per cent early-bird discount for registrations completed by November 7, 2026.
The retreat is expected to equip participating executives with practical strategies for improving institutional performance, strengthening leadership alignment and setting measurable priorities for sustainable growth in 2027.
