Civic infrastructure being readied at the Siddhartha group of institutions campus in Puttur town of Tirupati district, which will host the nine-day ‘Bharatha Vishwaguru Sankalpa Siddhi Mahayagam’ from September 14.
The sprawling campus of the Siddhartha educational group in Puttur town of Tirupati district has been spruced up for the ‘Bharatha Vishwaguru Sankalpa Siddhi Mahayagam’, a nine-day ritual scheduled to begin on September 14.
The event, commencing on the auspicious occasion of Vinayaka Chaturthi, will conclude on September 23. A team of 225 Vedic and Agamic scholars will conduct the rituals.
The scholarly contingent will be led by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) senior priest Sriman Parankusam Seetharamacharya, who holds the titles ‘Agama Vidya Vachaspati’ and ‘Bhagawat Kainkarya Shiromani’.
The Mahayagam is intended to invoke divine blessings for India to become a developed nation, or ‘Viksit Bharat’, and emerge as a global knowledge superpower, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of India as ‘Vishwaguru’.
The event will begin with a ‘Sankalpam’ seeking divine blessings for the good health and longevity of Mr. Modi so that he can accomplish the goal of making India a global knowledge superpower, said K. Ashok Raju, chairman of the Siddhartha group of educational institutions, who is organising the event along with his wife Indira Veni.
Explaining the concept behind the ritual, Dr. Raju told The Hindu that the Vedic scriptures contained instructions on a Dharmic way of life, besides describing rituals such as Yagna, philanthropy and worship of visible and invisible deities, as well as Yoga, knowledge of creation and the philosophy of Karma.
He said these ideas had been presented by sages and philosophical luminaries through debate, critical analysis and reasoning. “Hence, there is no exaggeration in stating that Bharatiya culture can be reckoned as the best in the entire world,” he said, stressing the need to promote the concepts of universal brotherhood and fraternity across the globe.
Dr. Raju, who is also vice-president of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Andhra Pradesh unit, said his primary objective in organising the event was to see India emerge as a global leader.
He cited the PM Jan Dhan Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, PM Suraksha Bima Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana, PM Mudra Yojana and PM Fasal Bima Yojana as initiatives aimed at improving the lives of underserved sections, including the unbanked, rural households, unorganised workers, micro and small entrepreneurs and farmers, and promoting the principle of inclusive development, or ‘Sab Ka Saath, Sab Ka Vikaas’.
State BJP president P.V.N. Madhav, who recently visited the venue to launch the poster and invitation for the event, highlighted Skill India, Startup India and PM Vishwakarma as key interventions aimed at enhancing the skills of young people, particularly Gen Z, and helping them secure remuneration commensurate with their skills and efforts.
Thousands of delegates from across the country are expected to attend the nine-day Mahayagam. The venue, located about 32 km from Tirupati, is also expected to facilitate the participation of large numbers of devotees and delegates.
