911 lines restored in GTA after overnight outages - Toronto Star

Service has come back online in several Ontario jurisdictions, including Toronto and the regions of Peel and Durham.

911 lines are being restored across Ontario following an overnight outage affecting numerous emergency departments — including Toronto police and fire services. 

Toronto police said at 4:30 a.m. that their 911 emergency line wasn’t able to receive calls. Shortly before 6:20 a.m., they said service was being restored. 

In an emailed news release at about 5:30 a.m., the OPP said it received reports of intermittent outages across the province.

Toronto fire said at about the same time that it was aware of an issue affecting 911 lines.

Several other police and emergency services departments in Ontario reported having issues. However, Durham Regional Police, Peel Regional Police and York Regional Police all said service was restored by about 6:15 a.m.

It is unclear what led to the outages.
