ACF urges Nigerians to vote with conscience, shun violence - The Guardian Nigeria News
As the country begins electoral campaigns, the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has urged Nigerians to approach future elections with conscience and sound judgment and not allow political parties to dictate their choices at the polls.
ACF Chairman, Mamman Osuman, SAN, made the call in an Independence Anniversary message, stressing the need for responsible citizenship, peaceful participation in the electoral process and national unity.
Osuman also cautioned citizens, particularly the youths, against participating in violent political activities, warning that no political contest is worth the loss of human life.
He said the anniversary provided an opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on the state of the country and the experiences of citizens across different parts of the nation, as many Nigerians continue to contend with natural disasters, insecurity, displacement, economic hardship, poverty and other forms of deprivation.
According to Osuman, the challenges have disrupted economic activities, forced the closure of schools, separated families, destroyed homes and damaged livelihoods.
He further expressed concern that some of the circumstances confronting Nigerians were allegedly being perpetrated or aggravated by individuals entrusted with leadership and governance.
On the electoral process, the ACF chairman emphasised the need for eligible Nigerians to obtain and secure their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate responsibly in elections.
