ActionSA claims there are extra ballot papers in Polokwane ward - TimesLIVE
ActionSA in Limpopo has queried the election process at the MP Malatjie Primary School voting station in ward 24, Polokwane local municipality.
It alleges extra ballot papers were discovered during the counting after the voting.
The call comes as the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) processes vote tallies nationwide, with more than 60% of national votes already counted and captured.
According to ActionSA, party agents flagged the discrepancy after recording 1,315 votes, whereas the votersβ roll records indicate that only 1,100 ballot papers were issued.
The partyβs provincial communications manager Kwena Molekwa said: βWe demand that the commission provide a comprehensive explanation regarding the 215 disputed ballots, investigate the circumstances surrounding their discovery, and take appropriate action where electoral irregularities are established.β
The party has lodged a formal complaint with the IEC.
Should the investigation confirm the process was compromised, the party said an election re-run must be held at the affected voting station.
