Adam Schefter explains how Raiders 2-0 start is 'best of all worlds'

Week two is behind us and the NFL world is reeling about the Raiders, who won a total of three games all of last season, starting out the year 2-0. Adam Schefter is liking what he sees in Las Vegas and was gushing about it on his podcast, pointing out and interesting perspective on how the Raiders are winning in more ways than one.

"There are a couple of things to take away from this," Schefter said. "Number one, it shows you the value of good coaching. Klint Kubiak has come in there and they look like a different offense, they look like a different organization, look totally different in every which way.

"The other thing is, you see the value of a veteran quarterback who is a steadying presence. Kirk Cousins. Wasn't good enough in Atlanta, but is more than adequate enough in Las Vegas. And not only is he playing well, but every time he wins, he buys himself more time out there. Every time he wins, he buys their number one overall pick, Fernando Mendoza, more time on the bench, which is a good thing in the long run.

"So they're winning on and off the field, because now they're not gonna hear the calls for Mendoza to start, they don't have to rush them along, they don't have to subject him to NFL defenses before they feel like they've prepped him in the way that they want, they're not at risk of ruining him early the way other quarterbacks have been ruined by entering the game and the league before they were ready to do so. So, this is the best of all worlds for the Silver and Black."

It's an interesting perspective. They say winning cures all ills. And sometimes that is more literal than figurative. Because while the fans are certainly eager to see what Fernando Mendoza will be as their franchise QB, they'll gladly taking winning over that right now, regardless of who is under center.
