Adidas tech layoffs: Company confirms 20% of India tech hub employees let go
Adidas has confirmed job cuts within its technology organisation in India, but says the impact is less than 20 per cent of its India Technology workforce. The clarification comes after reports suggested that nearly half of the employees at the company’s India Tech Hub in Gurgaon could be affected by the layoffs.
In a statement to India Today Tech, Adidas says it is reducing some roles within its Technology organisation in India to simplify its operations and make its business structure better suited to its changing needs.
“These changes are intended to simplify parts of our organisation, strengthen critical capabilities, and position Adidas for long-term success in a rapidly evolving business and technology environment,” the company said in the statement.
The company has also clarified the scale of the layoffs. Adidas says fewer than 20 per cent of its India Technology organisation is affected, putting the figure well below the 50 per cent reported earlier.
As part of our ongoing efforts to align our operating model with the evolving needs of the business, we have made the difficult decision to reduce a number of roles within our Technology organisation in India. These changes are intended to simplify parts of our organisation, strengthen critical capabilities, and position Adidas for long-term success in a rapidly evolving business and technology environment.
We are deeply grateful to our colleagues for their many contributions to Adidas. We are committed to supporting affected employees with care, respect, and appropriate transition assistance during this time.
India remains a strategically important market for Adidas, and our Technology Hub continues to play a critical role in enabling the company's growth, innovation, and digital transformation ambitions.
The impact of these changes is less than 20% of our India Technology organisation. We continue to invest in strategic capabilities and have several open roles across the organisation. Affected employees are encouraged to explore these opportunities as we build the skills and expertise needed for the future.Who are impacted during Adidas India layoffs
The latest job cuts affect different roles across the tech team, including software engineers, data scientists and data engineers. These employees are part of the technology workforce that supports Adidas’ digital operations and other technology-driven initiatives in India.
Earlier reports had suggested that around 350 employees could be affected at the Gurgaon technology hub, which was estimated to have a workforce of about 700 people.
The reports also noted that impacted employees were informed about the cuts during a town hall on September 15. Some reportedly received exit letters, while others were asked to stay on until December to complete handovers and look for other roles within the company. Employees who do not find another internal role were reportedly told that December 15 could be their last working day.- EndsPublished By: Divya BhatiPublished On: Sep 17, 2026 15:39 ISTAlso Read | iPhone 18 Pro to go on sale tomorrow in India, limited availability but good offers expectedAlso Read | iPhone 18 Pro is made in India, Apple shipping globally including US on charter planesAlso Read | Adidas confirms layoffs at India tech hub, around 20% employees affected
