Adobe launches Premiere mobile app on Android, offers AI tools, 4K editing for free
Adobe has launched Premiere mobile app on Android in India, bringing its video-editing tools to a much wider audience. The app was earlier available on iPhone. The new Adobe Premiere app for Android is available for free on Google Play Store — as well as App Store for iPhone users – and brings features including multi-track editing, 4K video export, AI-powered audio tools and Firefly-powered generative AI.
According to Adobe, the Android launch also introduces some new features to the app, including Enhance Audio, which uses AI to remove background noise and improve audio quality.
Adobe says the Premiere mobile app is designed for creators, with a focus on the Indian audience, who want to shoot, edit and publish videos directly from their phones. According to the company, the app supports frame-accurate editing and a multi-track timeline, allowing users to layer video, music, voiceovers, text and effects in the same project. Users can also use templates, Adobe Stock assets and their own media while editing.
One of the key features is Enhance Audio, which uses AI to reduce background noise and improve the clarity of recordings. According to the company, the feature was added based on feedback from Indian creators. “We heard loud and clear from creators that background noise removal was a huge need for them, and we wanted to make sure they had that right out of the gate,” Diksha Kuhar, director of product marketing for Premiere mobile at Adobe, told India Today Tech.
According to Adobe the feature can be particularly useful for users recording interviews, voiceovers or social media videos in noisy environments. The app also supports editing and exporting videos up to 4K.How is Premiere mobile different from Premiere Pro on desktop?
Adobe makes it clear that Premiere mobile is by no means a toned-down version of Premiere Pro. In our conversation, Kuhar highlighted the mobile app is designed around how people create content on their phones, with a focus on quick, on-the-go editing and allowing users to take their content from idea to finished video without need of a big screen.
“It is not toned down as it is format informed,” Kuhar told India Today. “When people are on mobile, they are looking for quick and easy ways to get content out because that's a lot of on-the-go editing.”
While the mobile app brings familiar Premiere Pro features such as the multi-track timeline and frame-accurate editing, Kuhar notes Adobe has adapted its Pro tools for mobile screen to make them easier and more intuitive to use on a phone.Adobe Premiere mobile app is free to use
The Premiere mobile app is currently available for free on both Android and iOS. The app also includes Firefly-powered generative AI features such as Generative Fill, Image-to-Video and Generate Sound Effects. However, while the core video-editing tools are free, some of the extended AI generative features will be available at extra cost. Adobe is also charging extra for the additional cloud storage. With Premiere mobile now available on both iOS and Android, Adobe is also planning several additions to the app in the coming months. These include Adobe Fonts, more music options and beat-to-sync, which will automatically sync content to the beat of the music. Kuhar notes that these features will be available for free to users.
“Adobe Fonts are going to be introduced. So that is going to be thousands of fonts for free for users,” Kuhar said. “We're also going to introduce more music options and also beat to sync where content is automatically synced to beat.”
India is also getting specific attention. According to Adobe, the company is working with Indian creators and plans to expand regional templates, including templates tailored around India's festive calendar. The company is also working on regional-language captions, starting with Hindi before expanding to other languages.
