After Viral Brawl, Punk Youths and Cilok Vendor in Semarang Agree to Reconcile
SEMARANG, KOMPAS.com - A dispute between a group of punk youths and a cilok vendor at a gas station in Tengaran District, Semarang Regency, Central Java, has been peacefully resolved.
Both parties involved—the cilok business owner Ahmad (40) and the punk group’s representative Sultan (28)—agreed to make peace in front of investigators from the Semarang Police Criminal Investigation Unit.
The incident, which occurred on Tuesday (15/9/2026) and went viral on social media, showed several punk youths kicking the cilok vendor’s cart, leading to a physical altercation.
AKP Bodia Teja Lelana, Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at Semarang Police, said that several witnesses and those involved were questioned on Wednesday (16/9/2026).
Subsequently, Semarang Police mediated between the two parties.
"As a result of the mediation, both parties, from the cilok business owner and the punk group representative, have agreed to reconcile in front of the officers from the Semarang Police Criminal Investigation Unit," Bodia said on Friday (18/9/2026), as reported by TribunJateng.
Ahmad, the cilok vendor, said the dispute serves as a learning experience for all parties to respect and prioritize good behavior, especially when in someone else’s territory.
"Hopefully this becomes a lesson for everyone," he said.
Meanwhile, Sultan, the punk group’s representative, said the incident was a learning moment for their group.
He promised to maintain good behavior while traveling.
"We guarantee that when we stop during our journey, we will keep our manners and actions in check," he stated.
Tengaran Police Chief Iptu Budi Prihanto explained that the quarrel began when the punk group stopped at the fuel station because one of their motorcycles broke down.
While repairing the motorcycle, an argument arose among the group members. This disturbance was addressed by a cilok vendor named Budi (43) who was nearby.
"However, instead of responding well, the punk youths felt offended and then vandalized Mr. Budi’s cilok cart," he explained.
The commotion at the gas station was then broken up by bystanders waiting in line.
However, the group proceeded to assault the cilok and meatball vendors at the location.
"Upon receiving reports of the disturbance, Tengaran Police officers immediately arrived at the scene. The punk youths were secured and handed over to the Semarang Police Criminal Investigation Unit," he concluded.
