Agra resort near Taj Mahal gets bomb threat, email warns of blast in 8 days
A resort near the Taj Mahal in Agra received an email threatening to blow up the property within eight days, prompting a security alert and a search by police and the bomb disposal squad. The resort owner informed the police soon after receiving the email, following which a team led by the ACP Taj Security reached the premises.
The bomb disposal squad carried out a detailed search of the resort and its surrounding areas as a precautionary measure. The entire premises was checked for any suspicious object or explosive. However, no bomb or suspicious item was found during the search, police said.
ACP Taj Security Yatendra Nagar said the resort owner had alerted the police about the threatening email, following which the bomb disposal squad was called in, and the premises was thoroughly checked.
Although nothing suspicious was found at the resort, police have taken the threat seriously and launched an investigation into the email.
The email and other digital data linked to it have been forwarded to the cyber cell. Investigators are now trying to trace the source of the email, identify the sender and determine the motive behind the threat.
