AIKMS calls for united movement against corporatisation of agriculture

All India Kisan Mazdoor Sabha activists taking part in a rally in Khammam on Monday to mark the beginning of AIKMS’s fourth national conference.

All India Kisan Mazdoor Sabha (AIKMS) president Vemulapalli Venkataramaiah has called for a sustained mass movement to address the problems faced by farmers and agricultural labourers in the country.

Speaking at a public meeting in Khammam on Monday marking the beginning of the three-day fourth national conference of the AIKMS, he said there was an imperative need to build a united struggle along the lines of the farmers’ movement which forced the BJP-led Central government to repeal the three farm laws in 2021.

AIKMS general secretary Ashish Mittal alleged that the BJP-led government at the Centre was working in the interests of corporates at the expense of farmers and workers.

He said the AIKMS would continue to defend the interests of farmers and agricultural labourers and fight against attempts to corporatise the agricultural sector.

AIKMS leaders from various parts of the country addressed the meeting.

Earlier, a rally was taken out in Khammam as a prelude to the public meeting.

Farmers, agricultural labourers, tribal people from the Agency areas participated in the rally.

Cultural activists of Arunodaya cultural organisation from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and others States performed during the rally..
