Ajmer man bravely fights off chain-snatchers who used fake pistol to attack couple

A retired doctor and his wife were targeted by two men on a bike in an attempted chain-snatching incident in Ajmer's Civil Lines area on Saturday night. The accused used a fake pistol to threaten the woman and snatched her chain before one of them escaped.

Mahendra Jain, a retired doctor, and his wife Suchitra Jain, a retired teacher, were returning home on their scooter when the two men tried to snatch the chain from her neck. During the attempt, the bike carrying the accused lost balance and fell, while the couple's scooter also toppled.

One of the men then got up, pulled out a fake pistol and threatened the couple before snatching the chain from the woman’s neck. Without wasting a moment, she raised an alarm, drawing the attention of people nearby.

A man who reached the spot first bravely confronted the accused waiting on the bike and knocked him off it, who then managed to escape. The man then turned to help the retired couple. As more people gathered, the second accused tried to flee but was caught by the crowd and beaten.

The entire incident was caught on camera as a video of it has gone viral.

After being alerted, personnel from the Civil Lines police station reached the spot and began investigating the case.
