Alex Eala, Shaira Rivera open Asian Games women's doubles run vs. Hong Kong - GMA Network

Alex Eala will team up with Shaira Rivera as the Filipina tandem begins its women's doubles campaign in the 2026 Asian Games on Tuesday.

Eala and Rivera will lock horns with Hong Kong’s Ching Laam Lai and Kallista Liu in the Round of 32, with the Filipinas looking to join fellow Philippine bets Stefi Aludo and Tenny Madis in the second round.

Madis and Aludo earlier defeated the Indonesia pair of Anjali Junarto and Meydiana Reinnamah, 6-3, 7-6 (4), in the first round to move forward in the tournament.

The women’s doubles is Eala’s second event in her second Asian Games stint, with the Filipina earlier cruising past Thailand’s Patcharin Cheapchandej, 6-1, 6-0, to open her singles campaign.

The world No. 18 Eala is looking to improve on her double bronze finish in the previous Asian Games edition, where she finished third in both singles and mixed doubles events.
