Allen, Waxahachie retain top spots in Southwest Region Week 5 football rankings - USA Today
After chaos consumed the Southwest region two weeks ago, forcing a plethora of changes and new teams joining the mix, last week's slate of games wasn't quite as chaotic.
There weren't as many upsets and games involving certain programs squaring off with one another were so close that major changes weren't as necessary.
Here are USA TODAY Sports' Week 4 Southwest Region Super 15 rankings.
Tied at 14 after the first quarter, the Eagles could not stop scoring against the Southlake Carroll defense en route to a 56-35 win. Ty Snell threw for 305 yards and three touchdowns in the win while Jrue Simmons added 151 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

In what turned out to be one of the games of the week in Texas, Waxahachie leaned on its ground game and some key fourth-quarter defensive stops to beat Guyer 44-30. Taylen Strenge ran for 192 yards and three touchdowns in the game.
Next game: Friday, Sept. 18, vs. Lake Ridge (TX), 7 p.m. CT
Summer Creek led after a quarter of play, but North Crowley scored 27 points between the second and third quarter to pull away for the 41-20 win over the Bulldogs.

North Shore ran the ball well in its 23-21 win over South Oak Cliff (TX) β 43 carries for 227 yards β but it was the Mustangs' pass game that was the difference in the win. Javoris Taylor threw for 163 yards and connected on touchdown passes twice to La'Damian Defreeze as they held off the Golden Bears for win No. 3.

After back-to-back offensive showcases to open the season, the Spartans had to win using their defense against visiting Jenks (OK). Bixby remained unbeaten with a 13-6 win thanks to its defense and a 198-yard rushing night from Isaiah Butcher IV.

One of the best games in the Lone Star State was scoreless after one. Then Prosper and Westlake (TX) offenses got going and an eight-point difference in the third quarter was the difference as the Eagles held off the Chaparrals 49-40.

The Wildcats led Waxahachie for the entire first half before Waxahachie took control in the third quarter. They fell down by 14 late but still had an opportunity to win with two minutes remaining, but Carter Morgan was sacked and fumbled the ball away to end the comeback hope.
Next game: Thursday, Sept. 24, vs. Wakeland (TX), 7 p.m. CT
After two disappointing blowout losses to start the season, the Eagles got back on track, scoring 21 first-half points and holding off Duncanville late to secure the 21-20 win. Texas Tech four-star running back commit SaRod Baker led the charge, rushing for 122 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries.

In another loss, the Panthers offense once again struggled as they couldn't get much going in the first half and were forced to make a comeback that was not meant to be in the second half.

Once again, the Bruins were involved in a close game and once again, they pulled out the win, beating Legend (CO) 34-28 in overtime. Alijah Landrum-Hamilton stole the show for the Bruins, catching seven passes for 160 yards and three touchdowns.
Next game: Friday, Sept. 18, at Valor Christian, 7 p.m. MT
The Golden Bears passing game continued its struggles against North Shore, but they may have found something with their rushing attack. Kenenth Young ran for 162 yards and two touchdowns, pacing a ground game that finished with 298 yards.

Another one of Oklahoma's best was featured in a defensive showdown as the Titans held off Wewoka 14-8. Wynnewood scored six points in the first and tied Wewoka with eight fourth quarter points to stay unbeaten.
Next game: Friday, Sept. 25, at Mangum (OK), 7 p.m. CT
Oklahoma's longest win streak has now hit 56 games as the Titans beat the Fighting Irish in a 20-8 defensive slugfest. Carl Albert relied heavily on Delijah Matthews who carried the ball 22 times for 96 yards and a touchdown.
