Ambulance carrying soldier's remains crashes into truck in UP, 4 killed
Four people, including the son, brother and nephew of the deceased Army Subedar Major, were killed after the ambulance carrying his mortal remains to Deoria crashed into a truck on the Purvanchal Expressway in Uttar Pradesh's Sultanpur on Sunday morning.

The accident took place around 8 am near the 79.6-km mark of the expressway, close to the Ayodhya-Sultanpur border. The ambulance was carrying the mortal remains of Subedar Major Satyawan, who had been posted in Chandigarh, along with his relatives and the driver.FOUR KILLED IN PURVANCHAL EXPRESSWAY CRASH
According to the police, the ambulance went out of control near Haliyapur and rammed into a truck parked on the side of the expressway. The collision severely damaged the ambulance.
The deceased were identified as Gaurav Singh, 28, son of the soldier, and the ambulance driver, Jaspal,30, died on the spot, while Rajan Chaudhary, 35, the soldier's brother, and nephew Ram Samujh Singh, 40, succumbed to their injuries during treatment at a hospital in Pithla-Kumarganj in Ayodhya district, police said.
The four deceased were residents of Deoria district.
Subedar Major Satyawan was a resident of Galiya Dudhailla village under Rudrapur police station in Deoria. His mortal remains were being transported from Chandigarh to his home district when the accident occurred.
Following the crash, police took possession of the four bodies and sent them for post-mortem examinations. The families of the deceased have been informed, and further legal formalities are underway.
The mortal remains of Subedar Major Satyawan have been kept at the Haliyapur police station premises with due honour pending further arrangements.WHAT SULTANPUR SP SAID
Sultanpur SP Vineet Jaiswal said the Haliyapur police received information about the accident on October 4, following which local police and senior officials reached the spot.
Jaiswal said the ambulance was carrying the mortal remains of a Subedar from Chandigarh to Deoria, accompanied by his relatives and the driver. All four people travelling in the ambulance lost their lives in the crash.
He said procedures related to the inquest and post-mortem were being carried out as per the rules, while police remained present at the accident site.
Sultanpur SP Vineet Jaiswal and District Magistrate Indrajeet Singh also visited the spot after receiving information about the accident.- EndsWith PTI inputs
