The Food Safety Department of Andhra Pradesh has banned analogue paneer (artificial or non-dairy paneer) in the State.
Following the guidelines issued by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Commissioner of Food Safety, Andhra Padesh, G. Veerapandian, imposed the ban on artificial paneer for one year.
Ban on artificial or non-dairy paneer products aims at protecting public health, preventing consumer deception and ensuring fair practices in food trade, the Food Safety officials said in a release on Thursday.
All food business operators have been directed to ensure that products sold or served as paneer comply with the applicable FSSAI standards, and follow the directions of the Food Safety Department.
