In a statement, he said the proposed hike followed a recent ₹6 per litre increase in the procurement price of milk supplied to Aavin, which was expected to widen the cooperative’s losses. He called for addressing administrative inefficiencies and corruption in Aavin’s management and providing government subsidies to compensate for losses incurred in supplying milk at affordable prices.
