Tirupati District Collector S. Venkateswar has said that the Andhra Pradesh government would stand by the families of the workers who died in the industrial explosion at a pharmaceutical unit in Sri City on October 3, 2026. He said the company, TIL Healthcare Private Limited, and the State government would assist the victims’ next of kin.

Five workers were killed in a boiler explosion at the pharmaceutical facility in the Sri City Special Economic Zone in Satyavedu mandal of Tirupati district on the morning of October 3.

Accompanied by the Superintendent of Police L. Subbarayudu and Sri City Managing Director Ravindra Sannareddy, the Collector expressed sorrow over the loss of lives.

“This is a deeply painful and irreparable tragedy. To ensure immediate financial relief for the dependents, compensation is being provided to each bereaved family under the Workmen’s Compensation Policy, alongside financial support from TIL Healthcare,” he said.

Concurrently, the State government had committed to extending complete assistance to rehabilitate the affected families, including securing employment opportunities for eligible family members, the Collector said. He added that the full compensation finalised for the grieving families would be handed out in a couple of days.

Mr. Venkateswar said TIL Healthcare would directly transfer ₹50 lakh to each victim's nominee within two days, while the remaining dues under the Workmen’s Compensation Policy will be disbursed at the earliest.

Stringent safety measures will be enforced to prevent the occurrence of such incidents in the future, and rigorous safety inspections and audits will be conducted across all industrial units throughout the district, including Sri City, Mr. Subbarayudu said.

Mr. Sannareddy assured rehabilitation assistance, including sponsoring the education of the victims’ children and jobs for eligible family members.
