The police received complaints on 41 election-related incidents across the State on Sunday. The incidents were reported from Anantapur, Kadapa, Kurnool and 17 other districts.

“Every complaint is being taken seriously and anyone involved in poll-related violence, malpractice, or unlawful activities will face strict legal action,” Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta warned.

Inspector-General of Police B. Raja Kumar, who monitored the elections to 92 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), said that technology would be used to verify the facts, and stern action would be initiated against those involved in election-related incidents.

The DGP, who monitored the polling process and security at the polling centres from the Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC) at the A.P. Police Headquarters, said elaborate security had been arranged at the strongrooms where ballot boxes were kept.

“Barring minor incidents, the elections to 13 Municipal Corporations, and 79 Municipalities and Nagar Panchayats have been conducted peacefully in the State,” Mr. Harish Kumar Gupta said.

Drones, body-worn cameras and videography, and Samartha App and other surveillance systems were used in the elections, the DGP said, and appreciated the police personnel and the security forces for performing their duties with dedication and helping in the smooth conduct of elections.

Earlier, the IGPs, DIGs and Superintendents of Police visited a few polling stations and monitored the polling process through web-casting across the State.
