Andrea Johnson and Feroz Khan arrested - IOL
Former IDAC boss Andrea Johnson and former SAPS major-general, Feroz Khan, have been arrested.
Former Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) head Andrea Johnson and former SAPS Major-General Feroz Khan have reportedly been arrested on charges of defeating the ends of justice.
The two former senior officials are expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court after arrest warrants were reportedly issued on Thursday. Police have yet to officially confirm their arrests.
The development follows testimony implicating both officials in alleged interference with criminal investigations, the handling of confidential evidence and questionable police operations.
Johnson has faced serious allegations over a 2018 assault and intimidation complaint involving Khan and Crime Intelligence Brigadier Leonora Phetlhe.
Witnesses, including retired Hawks Colonel Kobus Roelofse and former IDAC official Drushantha Ramsamy, alleged that Johnson improperly shared confidential case material with Khan before he submitted his warning statement to investigators.
The material allegedly included the complainant’s statement, a J88 medical report and audio evidence.
Johnson was also accused of shielding Khan from prosecution and arranging an unofficial meeting at her office, bypassing normal visitor procedures.
When questioned about whether she had disclosed the docket, she invoked her constitutional right against self-incrimination.
Further testimony raised questions about her management of investigations, including alleged pressure to meet arrest deadlines, the handling of cases involving senior police officials and claims that a witness was discouraged from remaining in South Africa to testify.
Khan, meanwhile, faced scrutiny over the original assault allegations and his alleged involvement in questionable cocaine operations, including the controversial Aeroton drug bust involving a reported 751kg cocaine haul.
The commission also heard evidence concerning discrepancies between a reported 552kg cocaine seizure and official records reflecting 541kg.
