Andy Reid reveals injury updates on Josh Simmons, Mansoor Delane - Chiefs Wire
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke with reporters on Monday, revealing injury updates on offensive lineman Josh Simmons and rookie defensive back Mansoor Delane.
"Yeah, (Josh Simmons) he's doing everything. Yeah, he's working his tail off. We knew it'd be a couple, two, three, four games in here as long as he was making progress," said Reid. "So, we'll just see where he's at. He's kind of in that flex area there to see exactly how that thing, if it's calmed down and some of the swelling gone down, but we'll see."
Simmons hasn't been active through the first two games of the season, while Delane continues to be active but hasn't seen action since suffering a shoulder injury after an interception early in Week 1.
"Yeah, it wasn't coming around as fast as we wanted. (Mansoor Delane) He was right on the border there; you can get in and play and play a full game, or just let it if we can get it to calm down a little bit more. Maybe he's better this week," said Reid, "so there's a tweener's position to be in, and he wanted to suit up, and if needed, he could have gone in, but we're trying to keep him out of having to play a full game in there for sure."
Delane wore the uniform but didn't play, as the Chiefs' defense struggled early against the Indianapolis Colts offense in Week 2. Undrafted rookie Kahlil Benson has replaced Simmons and has played well, raising his stock significantly at left tackle.
