Apple, DepEd partners to send 170,000 Macbook Neo to teachers - Inquirer Technology
MANILA, Philippines – Apple CEO, John Ternus announced a partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) to deploy 170,000 MacBook Neo to teachers and staff.
Ternus mentioned this to be the “biggest education deal ever for Mac” as Apple plans to send the MacBook Neos to 16,400 K-12 public schools nationwide.
“Investing in our teachers is investing in the future of our learners. Global assessment data shows that providing educators with tools and technology lead to higher classroom engagement and better learning outcomes,” said DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara.
The deployment coincides with the DepEd Computerization Program (DCP).
The DCP is a modernization program that provides public schools with the latest devices, software, and training.
Educators will also gain access to the Apple Education Community, a platform with instructional resources, peer collaboration, and recognition programs.
The platform has more than 70 lessons plans created by other Filipino educators for local elementary and high school curriculum.
The MacBook Neo’s AI capabilities, all-day battery life, and built-in productivity tools will allow more educators to stay tech savvy.
