The true barrier between education and innovation is not a lack of ideas but the gap in translation, industry co-investment, and management capacity to scale research into products, said S. Vijaya Bhaskara Rao, Vice-Chairman and Chairman (I/C), Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) at Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) in Tirupati on Monday.
Mr. Bhaskara Rao, along with SPMVV Vice-Chancellor Uma Vennam and United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) Publication Board Chair Daniel Gustafson, unveiled a souvenir during the inaugural session of International Conference on Research Innovations in Science, Technology and Management (RISTAM) 2026 at Indira Priyadarshini Auditorium.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Bhaskara Rao said, “RISTAM 2026 is exactly the kind of platform that closes India’s translation gap — turning published research into deployable science, technology and management practice. Such conferences become meaningful when they translate these policy goals into measurable outcomes.”
“Rather than ending with papers alone, this conference creates joint research proposals, faculty exchange initiatives, student mobility programmes, startup and incubation collaborations, industry partnerships, international research networks and inter-disciplinary publications. These outcomes will reflect the aspirations of PM-USHA and APSCHE,” he added.
Advising the students and research scholars, the APSCHE chief said, “When universities collaborate, innovation accelerates. When research serves society, education fulfils its highest purpose. Convert research into patents, products, policies, and community solutions. The future belongs not only to knowledge creators but also to knowledge translators.”
He called upon researchers to ensure that research does not remain confined to books and academic publications, but is transformed into products, patents and technological solutions that benefit society. He emphasised the need to strengthen the linkage between university and industry through the effective utilisation of private and industrial funding.
