District Collector G. Lakshmisha said that comprehensive arrangements were made to ensure the peaceful and successful conduct of elections within the limits of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation(VMC) and four municipalities in the NTR district.

Mr. Lakshmisha, District Election Expenditure Observer B. Vijay Kumar and VMC Commissioner Dhyanachandra H.M. visited the distribution centre at Loyola College in Vijayawada on Saturday. They inspected the election materials and various forms being supplied to polling teams.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Lakshmisha said elections would be conducted for a total of 222 wards across the VMC limits and four municipalities in the district. A total of 1,104 polling stations have been set up to enable voters to exercise their franchise freely.

He said elaborate security arrangements were made to ensure that law and order remained undisturbed. Sensitive and hyper-sensitive polling stations were identified, and arrangements had been made for CCTV surveillance and webcasting. He added that training programmes had been conducted in accordance with the guidelines issued by the State Election Commission (SEC).

District Election Expenditure Observer B. Vijay Kumar said that Flying Squad and Static Surveillance teams were actively monitoring election-related activities. Teams responsible for enforcing the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC), and election expenditure accounting were working in coordination.

He said that any complaints regarding violations of election rules would be examined immediately and appropriate action will be taken.
