The 20th edition of Asian Games, beginning from September 19, 2026, in Aichi-Nagoya in Japan, would feature 45 countries competing across 43 sports. For India, the broadcasting and streaming rights of Asian Games 2026 have been acquired by Sony Sports Network. The high-octane tournament is set to be broadcasted in four languages of Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.

The game is set to be held in Japan for the third time after being hosted by Tokyo in 1958 and Hiroshima in 1994. Expectations are high for the Indian contingent’s performance in the multi-sport tournament after clinching the highest ever tally of 107 medals in the last Asian Games in 2023.

The Asian Games will be available to stream for Indian viewers on Sony LIV app. This allows the viewers to catch all the action from the field on mobile and laptop. However, this feature is only available to subscribers.

For TV viewers, the Asian Games will be telecasted live on the Sony Sports 1 and Sony Sports 5 TV channels in India. It will also be broadcast live in regional languages on Sony Sports 3 (Hindi) and Sony Sports 4 (Tamil, Telugu and Kannada).

India heads to the Asian Games 2026 looking to build on its record-breaking campaign at Hangzhou 2023, where they won 107 medals, including 28 gold. For hockey, Indian men’s team would enter the arena as reigning champions and will face-off with Japan, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Indonesia. Shreyas Iyer will lead India’s title defence in the men’s T20 cricket, while Harmanpreet Kaur is the T20 captain of the women’s team.

A major disappointment for Indian viewers would be that defending javelin throw champion Neeraj Chopra will be missing in action in this tournament due to his withdrawal because of an ankle injury.

India will be pinning its hopes on P.V. Sindhu for a medal in badminton. Mirabai Chanu will lead the weightlifting contingent, while Manu Bhaker will be India’s best bet in shooting, and Aman Sehrawat would be fighting it out for the medal in wrestling.
