India enjoyed a productive Day 5 at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, adding five medals across athletics, shooting, wushu and rowing. There was no gold on Thursday, but India's medal haul continued to grow.

Athletics opened its medal account through Seema Kumari, who won bronze in the women's 10,000m. The mixed 4x400m relay team then added silver to cap a strong day on the track..

Roshibina Devi also secured silver in wushu, while Anantjeet Singh Naruka-Parinaaz Dhaliwal and Satnam Singh-Salman Khan won bronze in shooting and rowing respectively.

Away from the medal events, India's teams produced several notable results. The men's hockey team thrashed South Korea 8-2, while both men's and women's kabaddi teams marched into the semifinals unbeaten.

India added five medals to its tally on Thursday. Seema Kumari won bronze in the women's 10,000m before the Indian mixed 4x400m relay team of TS Manu, MR Poovamma, Vishal TK and Vithya Ramraj secured silver.

Roshibina Devi added a silver in the women's Sanda 60kg final, while Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal won bronze in mixed team skeet. Rowers Satnam Singh and Salman Khan also secured bronze in the men's double sculls.

The mixed 4x400m relay team clocked 3:14.46 to finish behind Bahrain, which won gold in a Games-record 3:12.87. The result was briefly kept unofficial after a UAE protest, before UAE's disqualification was confirmed and India's silver was made official.ATHLETICS GATHERS MOMENTUM

Seema's 10,000m bronze and the mixed 4x400m relay silver were not the only positives for India in athletics.

Animesh Kujur reached the men's 100m semifinals after finishing third in his heat in 10.36 seconds, while national record holder Gurindervir Singh finished second in his heat in 10.38 seconds. Both will return for the semifinals on Friday.

Asha Ilango narrowly missed out on a medal in the women's triple jump. She matched China's Yi Li with a best effort of 13.83m but finished fourth on countback after the Chinese athlete produced a better second-best jump.

Thailand's Puripol Boonson was the fastest qualifier from the heats, winning in 9.95 seconds.HOCKEY CRUISES ON

India's men's hockey team continued its dominant start with an 8-2 win over South Korea for its third consecutive victory in Pool A.

Dilpreet Singh was the star, scoring a hat-trick as India followed up 13-1 and 16-1 wins over Indonesia and Sri Lanka. Shilanand Lakra, Harmanpreet Singh, Abhishek and Rajinder Singh were also on the scoresheet.

The defending champions remain top of the pool and will face hosts Japan on Saturday. India's only concern was their penalty-corner conversion, with the team wasting four consecutive opportunities before Rajinder converted one in the final seconds.KABADDI TEAMS INTO SEMIS

Both Indian kabaddi teams completed unbeaten group-stage campaigns and advanced to the semifinals.

The men's team defeated Chinese Taipei 37-21 to finish Group A with four wins from four. India had earlier beaten South Korea, Japan and Bangladesh, securing at least a bronze medal in their bid to retain the Asian Games title.

The women's team were equally dominant, beating hosts Japan 50-25. India led 32-13 at half-time and completed an unbeaten Group A campaign after earlier victories over Bangladesh and Iran.

Both teams will play their semifinals on September 25 and remain in contention for another men's and women's gold double.ALL INDIAN FINISH IN SQUASH

India had a strong day on the squash courts, with Anahat Singh, Tanvi Khanna, Abhay Singh and Veer Chotrani all reaching the singles quarterfinals.

Anahat beat Singapore's Wai Iynn Au Yeong 3-0, while Tanvi defeated Wai Yhann Au Yeong 3-1. The results set up an all-Indian women's singles quarterfinal between the two.

Abhay produced a commanding 3-0 win over Sri Lanka's Ravindu Laksiri, while Veer survived a five-game battle against Malaysia's Sanjay Jeeva.

Veteran Joshna Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar also advanced to the mixed doubles quarterfinals after beating fellow Indians Shameena Riaz and Suraj Chand. They will face the Philippines' David Pelino and Jemyca Aribado on Friday.MORE INDIAN PROGRESS

India also made progress in table tennis, with both women's doubles pairs advancing from the Round of 32.

Diya Chitale-Yashaswini Ghorpade beat Iran's Iloukhani Setayesh-Ashtari Mahshid 3-0, while Sreeja Akula-Syndrela Das defeated Mongolia's Sanjaa Burenjargal-Batmunkh Bolor-erdene by the same score.

Manush Shah also advanced in men's singles after beating Malaysia's Wong Qi Shen.

In boxing, Parveen progressed to the women's 65kg Round of 16 after Nozimova Malika conceded a walkover.

In esports, Paritosh advanced to the quarterfinals of Puyo Puyo Champions.

Swimming brought a mixed result, with Rohit Benedicton finishing 12th in the men's 50m butterfly heats and being placed in the reserves for the final.

India's Day 5 therefore ended without a gold but with five more medals, strong performances across several team sports and multiple athletes progressing into the knockout stages.
