Asian Games, September 23 schedule: Mirabai, Manu headline India's medal hopes
Another busy day awaits the Indian contingent at the Asian Games 2026, with several of the country's biggest names set to be in action in Aichi-Nagoya on Wednesday, September 23. India will look to add to its medal tally on Day 4, with athletes competing across 102 events in 17 sports.
Double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker will be one of the main attractions on Wednesday. She will compete in the women's 10m air pistol qualification, along with Suruchi Inder Singh and Esha Singh. The trio will also feature in the team event, while Bhaker, Suruchi and Esha are scheduled to compete in the individual final if they qualify.
Weightlifting will also be in focus as Mirabai Chanu begins her campaign in the women's 49kg category. The Olympic medallist will be aiming to win her first Asian Games medal. Gyaneshwari Yadav will later compete in the women's 53kg event.
The Indian men's badminton team, which assured a medal after beating Japan in the quarterfinals, will face China in the semifinal. Lakshya Sen, Ayush Shetty, HS Prannoy, Kidambi Srikanth, Tharun Mannepalli and the doubles pair of Satwik and Chirag are among those listed in India's squad. The team will be aiming to book a place in the gold medal match.
Wushu star Roshibina Devi will also be in action in the women's 60kg Sanda semifinal. She will face Indonesia's Thania Kusumaningtyas for a place in the final.
The Indian women's hockey team will look to maintain its winning start when it takes on Thailand in a Pool B match. India have won their opening two matches and will be aiming for another victory.
Fencing and rowing will also keep the Indian contingent busy throughout the day. Naorem Mina Devi and Ashitha Stalinraj will compete in the women's foil, while Karan Singh and Gisho Nidhi K.P. will feature in the men's sabre. Several Indian rowers will also be in action across heats in different events.
With medal events in shooting and weightlifting, and crucial matches in badminton, hockey and wushu, Wednesday promises to be another packed day for India at the Asian Games.
